JioStar Appoints Stephan Bugaj as SVP to Drive GenAI Strategy in Entertainment
JioStar Group has appointed Emmy Award–winning creative and technology leader Stephan Bugaj as Senior Vice-President, GenAI Content & Technology, strengthening its push towards AI-native, next-generation entertainment experiences.
In his new role, Bugaj will lead the development of intelligent content pipelines, interactive storytelling formats and scalable GenAI-driven creative frameworks across JioStar’s content ecosystem. The appointment underscores the Group’s strategic focus on accelerating innovation in AI-powered storytelling, audience engagement and digital-first entertainment formats at scale.
Bugaj joins JioStar from Genvid Entertainment, where he served as Chief Creative Officer and co-created the Massively Interactive Live Event (MILE) format, which blends streaming, gaming and real-time audience participation. He has also been instrumental in building AI-native creative pipelines and tools for filmmakers, and in developing interactive narrative productions that combine premium storytelling with live engagement.
With over three decades of experience spanning creative and technology leadership roles at DJ2 Entertainment, Pixar Animation Studios, Telltale Games and Hanson Robotics, Bugaj is widely recognised for translating emerging technologies into scalable entertainment platforms. His expertise spans AI-driven content systems, adaptive narrative frameworks, immersive media platforms and next-generation digital production workflows.
JioStar has been expanding its investments in AI-led initiatives across its content businesses, including conversational interfaces, second-screen engagement layers and AI-assisted content workflows. Bugaj’s appointment is expected to further accelerate the company’s efforts to build interactive, intelligent entertainment experiences for large-scale digital audiences.
